sermon series

I love the Christmas season, but it will soon be over.  It is pretty easy to know what to preach about during Christmas.  The story is the same every year.  But between Christmas and Lent, there is a period of 6-8 weeks that we need ideas for a sermon series.

You all are the best people in the world, and you all have great hearts and great ideas.  What would you like to hear about during that time period?  What topic would you like to hear a sermon series on?

Thanks for your help today, and in every way that you reach out and care about your church.

It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.

Jeff, while we mark the time from Advent to Lent in only six or eight weeks, this period represents a good part of the years Jesus had here on earth, to accomplish what He came for.

When I think of time from His birth, to the fulfillment of His ministry, I think of all the important decisions He had to make, and how much those decisions set the course of His ministry. In Jeff's life today, Jesus would have already died twenty years ago. That made His decision process even more crucial. With the short time Jesus had on earth, every decision was so important.

I'd love to hear some sermons on "Decision Points in Jesus Life." We make some of those same decisions that he had to make, and how very much we need to follow His example in decision making.

Examples
How did he choose the closest friends he would hang out with here on earth (the 12 Apostles) How did He decide to cast the vision and get them to share His passions?

How did he react when one or more of those friends let Him down?

How did he know when it was time to leave the nest and go out on His own?

What did he decide to do when others criticized Him? Or how did He decide what to do, when tempted by Satan?

Was he a "fixer" or did He decide to lovingly confront people with facts or Truth, and let them fix themselves?

How did he decide when he'd had more than He could bear, and go off by Himself to pray and meditate?

What did He decide to do when he felt alone and abandoned?

How did he decide what to do with materialism in His life, and how to guide others in what to do with it?

What did He decide to do when people He loved very much suffered pain and loss (Mary, Martha, and Lazarus)

What did he decide to do when He wasn't very popular with the crowd?

You and Shawn have such great minds, I know you can come up with other critical decisions He made, if this is a subject you think your church family could relate to.

if Jesus was here today, what would he say to the Church? What we he say to us as individuals. Sometimes i think we are so very far off track from what he intends for us. We live in a 'me' society. Technology invades every aspect of our lives. Watch people at the store and malls, in the car. they don't even look at you anymore as they are too busy looking at their phones. how do we as a people and church get back on the right track
