If I want something from you, it is not love.
Before we chase the whole setting, lets look at the first three words... "If I want." If I want, I am setting expectations. If I want, I am making it about me. If I want, I am setting myself up for disappointment.
Now, here is the whole saying, "if I want something from you, it is not love."
I thought of this saying the other day. It brought me so much peace.
We spend way too much time worried about what WE want. Is it going MY way? Is this making ME happy. When we put expectations on others, all we do is hurt them. When we love someone, we accept them as they are.
Love means enjoying people and enjoying the moment. Things will not always go the way that we want them to go, but things can still be good.
Release others from your desires. Release yourself from your desires.
If I want something from you, it is not love.
It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.
