Someone asked the other day what jobs I have had prior to becoming a pastor. I wondered later if they were thinking that I might need to prepare myself for another line of work.
As if anyone cared, here is the list of jobs I have held.

I laid asphalt
youth director at a tiny church
Seminary

ups delivery

bank teller

et cetera
because inquiring minds wanted to know.

And in your time as a dad, a husband, a friend, and a pastor, you've gotten to use all these skills you honed, except for maybe etcetera. Your family and your church undoubtedly benefited from your being good at:
Mowing
Fixing bicycles
Washing Dishes
Moving Furniture
Grilling Burgers
Gassing up the cars
Guiding Youth, even when they don't listen
Being the bank - when teenagers need a loan from dad'
Repairing and rebuilding your deck
Asphalting the church parking lot
All those skills you learned were not a waste.
