Harry Chapin

So I am driving down US one.  I’m hurdling down US one at 60 miles an hour.  5 miles over the speed limit.  A song comes on the radio by Harry Chapin.  I remember how he died tragically in a fiery car crash in the year 1981.  He was 39 years young.

It occurs to me as I’m flying down the road that we are all very frail and that life can be dangerous and at any moment it could end.  No, I’m not expecting for it to end anytime soon, but I’m just hoping that this reminder will cause me and others to slow down and appreciate every moment.  Every waking hour is a gift from our Father.  It is not going to last for ever and it can end all too soon, so appreciate it all.

It’s a beautiful day in God’s world be sure to see the good.
