When I was a child we visited my grandmother. Visiting grandma was something for my mother's benefit. It was not about us children. There was one shoebox with some toys in it. But remember, I grew up in a time when children were to be seen and not heard.
Oh my how the tables have turned. Our grandkids visited this week from Chicago. My wife packed both refrigerators full of their favorite foods. She bought tons of new toys for them. They were the center of the universe for four days.
I like that. Children should have times when they feel really loved. So should adults. Everyone should be spoiled every now and then, just to remind you that you matter.
