Today is Joe's funeral. 10am at the church. Burial at Blue Springs cemetery. I don't like funeral days. It's not that I mind helping the families, I am glad to do that. It is just hard to say goodbye. It is hard to be in front of lots of sad people, especially when you are sad too.
If you goof up on Sunday morning and the sermon is weak, most people will come back the following week and give it another chance. If you goof up at someone's funeral, there is no next week. No second chance.
A funeral is a time to remember the life of the deceased. It is a time to grieve and say goodbye. It is also a time to remember the hope that we have in Jesus Christ. Ahh. Now I begin to see the good. We have hope in Jesus Christ! Doesn't that put a different feel on the day.
Death is not the end. We have a hope that springs eternal. Life is a wonderful gift. And brief tho it may be, let us celebrate.
It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.
