21

All of the kids are home for the weekend. Well, Scott still lives here so he is always here, unless he is working or at school, or running around with friends. It feels good to have all of the kids home.

Tomorrow is Alli's 21st birthday. Wow. Can you imagine that? We were talking the other day about her turning 21. In a sorrowful tone she said to me, "Dad, I don't want to get old." Funny. And she was serious! Lots of festivities during the day today and a big dinner tonight.

It has been an interesting adjustment, no it has been a painful adjustment to get used to them being gone. Not just that, but learning to allow them to make their own decisions while keeping my big mouth shut. My parents used to work pretty hard to manipulate the adult children to behave in certain ways or to be present for holidays. We have made the commitment to not do that. After they are all grown up and out of the house, Cathy and I may just go out of town for big holidays.

Anyway, it is a big day at our house and everyone is excited for little Alli, all grown up now.

It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.

We know how you feel - it is great when you can all be home together. Just wait until they are married and have children - you will love it when they can all be with you. We are like you - we get together during the holidays, but it doesn't HAVE to be on Christmas Day. We try to let the kids decided when they can be here and even then sometimes it isn't EVERYONE. God Bless your time together.

Two lines from my favorite Alan Jackson song, "Remember When":

"Remember when thirty seemed so old now lookin' back, it was just a steppin' stone to where we are,
where we've been said we'd do it all again Remember when."

"Remember when...we said when we turn gray when the children grow up and move away, we won't be sad, we'll be glad, for all the life we've had...remember when".

Enough said.

Stephan will be there next July; I can't believe where the little girls and boys went. Tell her Happy Birthday. She's a beautiful girl and because of her parents I'm sure the inside is just as beautiful as the outside. You did a great job. Ang
