lose control

My Pastor told a story about a baseball game where the pitcher was waiting for a sign from the catcher.  One after the other, the pitcher shook off every sign the catcher gave.  Finally the catcher went out to the mound and said, "look, I have given the sign for every pitch that you can throw.  What is up?"  The pitcher said, "I just can't do it, I'm afraid that I might lose control."

We all like to be in control.  We like to make sure that life goes just how we want it to go.  We hold tightly to the reigns.  We want nothing to mess up the rhythm of our life.

Yet we are not in control.  We make plans and God laughs.  In Luke 12 Jesus tells the story of a man who had a great harvest and decided to build bigger barns to hold it all.  But that very night, he passed on into eternity.  What became of his plans?

We may think that we are in control, but it is a complete illusion.

We are not in control.  We can make the best decisions that we can, but there are some factors, some aspects of life where we just have to trust God.  Do all you can, and then trust in God.

It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.
