Winners and losers

History is written by the winners. What we understand happened during some era is written by those who have the ability to write and distribute their version of what happened: usually the winners.

Perspective defines history: one man’s terrorist is another’s freedom fighter. An English gentleman would have a different view of George Washington than a Boston merchant.

In a world driven by human emotion, winning is everything (or as Vince Lombardi said, winning isn’t everything, its the only thing). Evolution is based on who wins, and who loses. How we understand our past is based on how it is reported to us by those who “won,”  rightly or wrongly.

History, in the world of Christian values is different. There are no winners and losers, just people that take care of others and those in need. The later constitutes everybody. The former should. Irrespective of who serves, and who receives, history is the same: everyone is valuable, everyone is a winner.

Wouldn’t that be a terrific world?
