A friend recommend a new book to me. The title is "The Sabbath" the author is Abraham Joshua Heschel. A Jewish theologian, the book was originally published in 1951.
Over the next few days I am going to post some quotes from the book. The theme that I am encountering in the early chapters is this... We focus too much on collecting stuff and having more. In doing so, we miss the gift of time. We miss the gift of enjoying this precious moment.
Here we go... [quote edited by me...]
"There is a realm where the goal is not to have, but to be, not to own, but to give, not to control, but to share, not to subdue, but to be in accord. Life goes sideways when our acquisition of things becomes our sole concern."
It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to be the good.
