you don't have to be like me

You don’t have to be like me.  I think most of us are more comfortable with people that are like us.  People that look like us, that talk like us, and smell like us... we like that.

I will confess to you that when I’m around loud people, I wish they’d tone it down to be like me.
I find myself feeling almost racist when I feel like someone should look, sound and behave like I do.

People from other cultures have different ways than I do.  They talk on the phone differently.  They drive differently.  They sit in their cars differently.  They dress differently.  They have different hair.  Sometimes they are speaking a foreign language.   For me to expect that they sound like me, look like me, act like me or anything else like me is kind of naïve and silly on my part.

Probably good advice to just let people be themselves.  I/we need to learn to be comfortable with them as they are.  They should not have to become like me to be loved and accepted.

It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.
