I have always been fascinated by anything aviation. When I heard the low rumble I knew exactly what it meant. They were practicing again. Perhaps just to be practicing or for a flyover at a Sporting event, perhaps the Royals game that afternoon. I go out on my deck & watch. The first few passes they were in 4-5 different groups, usually 4 planes per group in a diamond formation. Then they come over again & I see that there are 6 sets of 4 planes. They slowly merge together to make a large beautiful formation. There is one extra plane at the rear. Perhaps to keep an eye on all of his brothers & sisters.
Imagine the discipline going on here. The trust. They start in small groups, then communicate amongst each other & gradually form something much bigger & more beautiful . Kind of like most churches. And families. And non for profits. As a side note, there is one solo guy in the back, watching after the pack, I like that.
This is not these pilots first rodeo. They have trained a long time for this. Perhaps even years. Remember the Southwest flight a few weeks ago that landed safely with a severely damaged engine & hole in the window? That pilot was disciplined. She kept her cool under pressure. She had many years of training & experience. She & her co pilot followed their training, checklists & systems.
Everybody lived.
What can I learn from these examples? I’ve decided to seek more discipline in my life. Surely there can only be good that comes of it. Yes, it won’t be fun sometimes. Usually, the most beautiful things in life come from some form of discipline. How can you make discipline your friend today? What area of your life could you use more discipline? What could you start to learn in small pieces or groups, then put the ideas together to make something bigger & more beautiful?
The world really is, at your fingertips.
Happiness really is, a choice.
Go find yourself or someone to love today.
