more on forgiveness

My friend Sharon sent in these thoughts on forgiveness.

From the book by Richard Paul Evans, The Locket.

"We are chained to that which we do not forgive. Imagine a ship trying to set sail while towing an anchor. Cutting free is not a gift to the anchor. You must release that burden, not because the anchor is worthy, but because the ship is."

Let me add to this.... another very helpful exercise for me is to change the way that we think about the person. Commonly when we are hurt by someone, we think of them and cringe. What would happen if we picture them standing next to Jesus, and Jesus has his arms around them?

No matter what that person did, God can and will forgive them. If the apostle Paul was forgiven for murdering Christians, this person can be forgiven as well.

Picture the person in the arms of Jesus.
Cut the anchor lose so your ship can sail.
You are worth it.

It's a beautiful day in God's world be sure to see the good.
