I was talking to a friend about how we say things to each other and it sounds rote.
Hi! Hi!
How are you? Good. How are you?
Thank you. You are welcome.
These are all things that we can say in a way that they go in one ear and out the other. What if we learned to say such things in ways that would stick.
This can be accomplished by some of the following…
1. Look someone in the eye when you say thank you
2. If it is in an email, expand beyond thank you and include emphasis like caps. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH, I REALLY APPRECIATE IT!!!
3. Refuse to say thank you in a cursory way. Instead, stop and change the pace of the moment. Turn your head, catch their eye, then say the words, “Thank you”
Find a way to make sure that you know that they know that you are/were totally sincere about your thanks. You will be glad that you did.
It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.
