Everything Happens

Sometimes mayhem just happens.

The other day someone said this to me: "everything happens for a reason."

I completely disagree.  The notion is that God is in control and what ever is happening to you, there is a divine reason behind it.

Someone once told me, and I like this... "God is in control, but he is not controlling."

If everything happens for a reason, then God is giving children cancer, orchestrating plane crashes and causing all sorts of mayhem.

I prefer to believe that things happen in this world.  We don't know if they are from God or if they just happen.  I don't see the point of blaming everything on him.

What I do believe is that there is something to learn from everything that comes our way.  Even in the worst of circumstances when things are happening that we cannot blame God for, there are lessons.

Lessons on humility, lessons on trust, lessons on opening our minds.
