Force

Something is going to happen to you one of these days that you are not going to like. Something is going to change. Something is going to come along and try to bowl you over. We can be ready for these moments and lean into the difficulty or we can be victimized by them.

I have been thinking a lot lately about the question, "are you acting upon a thing or is it acting upon you?" In other words, are you ready to deal with life's uncertainties or are they going to smash into you and wash you away?

One of my favorite quotes comes from George Bernard Shaw:

This is the true joy in life,
the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one;
the being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap…
and being a force of nature instead of a feverish selfish little clod
of ailments and grievance,
complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy.

Life is short.  Are you a victim of circumstance or a force of nature?

It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.
