Parishioners have expectations......
- The sermon better be good.
- You better come see me in the hospital.
- You better make good decisions.
- You better not lose that family.
- you better get along with everyone
- don't lose that staff person
- don't upset that person
The Methodist bosses have expectations.....
- You better keep the church growing.
- You better pay your apportionments.
- You better come to all of the meetings.
I don't think most people realize the kind of pressure that is on a pastor. You enter this job because you have a calling, and then suddenly people and systems are piling on the pressure. Maybe there is nothing to do about that, but I have to tell you I do not miss the pressure of keeping it all going.
God bless and guide those who are still working to make the churches great. It is hard work.
It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.
