faith and knowing

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.  Faith is believing and holding to something, precisely when you don't know.

Too many Christians have turned this upside down.  To some, their faith has made them "know it alls."  Attacking others with doctrine and beliefs, they have become those who "know."  The problem with this is that true spiritual knowledge comes not when we know, but when we realize how much we do not know.  Spirituality is emptying myself of the notion that I know it all or I have it all together.  Spirituality is not about knowing, it is about loving and trusting.

And so we have faith in a God that is bigger than us.  A God who loves us and forgives us.  A God that does not need us to have all the answers.  Faith - it's not about what you know or what I think I know.  It is about leaning on the God whose ways are higher than our ways and whose thoughts are higher than our thoughts.

It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.
