our church

Someone asked me recently why I thought our church was worth supporting.  It is a great question.  If you expect people to give their time, talent and treasure to your church, a person needs to be able to answer this

question.  Why is my church worth supporting?

Whether you attend Woods Chapel or another church, I would like to ask you this question, so please answer or post a thought.  Is your church worth supporting?  Why or why not?

It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.

Dear Jeff: I have no specific insight as to why people give to other churches, but here at Woods Chapel it seems to me that you and the staff have done a particularly good at allowing people to see a need and creating the compelling vision to satisfy that need. Over the last several years, I have observed multiple occasions when you’ve taught us “to live outside of ourselves” (your words not mine). The Nicaragua mission is but the latest example in a long line of mission projects that come to mind.

Yes, we need to give to pay the light bill, employ the staff and pay the mortgage. Yet, it is my view that being a part of a church that’s making an eternal difference in the lives of others inspires people. We have that in abundance at Woods Chapel. Kudos to you and the staff.

WCC has provided a home to our family in which to worship. We have found friends, comfort and wonderful teachers for our children. Growing up in another church I was never taught about local missions work. WCC provides so many opportunities for us to get involved in missions right here at home. We have caring pastors that deliver meaningful messages. I would say that is worth supporting!

It is so great when we stop to think about why we do most anything. The reason I support our church with what God has given me to give, is that I believe WCC lives out the real message of the Bible.

When we come before God, either in prayer or come before him when we get to heaven, the only thing that really matters is whether we each and collectively lived out what he wanted for us. I believe WCC chapel as a body of believers will hear "well done thou good and faithful servant." This is the only purpose that makes anything we do, worthwhile.
