a song from a friend

A friend sent me this song.  It made me think, and it made me cry.  I though of friends that I have lost, and friends that I don't want to lose, and how utterly hopeless we feel when we lose the ones that we love.  It is by Luke Bryan.  Here are the words.

When I got the news today
I didn't know what to say
So I just hung up the phone
I took a walk to clear my head
This is where the walking led
Can't believe you're really gone
Don't feel like going home
So I'm gonna sit right here
On the edge of this pier
Watch the sunset disappear
And drink a beer

Funny how the good ones go
Too soon, but the good Lord knows
The reasons why it is
Sometimes the greater plan is kinda hard to understand
Right now it don't make sense
I can't make it all make sense
So I'm gonna sit right here
On the edge of this pier
Watch the sunset disappear
And drink a beer

so long my friend
until we meet again
i remember you
and all the times that we used to
sit right here on the edge of this pier
and watch the sunset disappear
and drink a beer.

and so the moral of this is a familiar one, love the ones that God has given you.  Hug them.  Appreciate them.  Nothing lasts for ever.  We are finite.  Hug them.  Look them in the eye.

Life is a gift and it goes by so very fast.

It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.
