exhaling

Dear Exhaling,
you used your initials, but I won't use them here. I cannot post it, because I do not understand the comment that you want to post on the blog on sin from Friday. I assure you that I am not judging you or anyone. Please contact me in person or send an email to jeffb@woodschapelchurch.org if you would like to talk further.

Maybe I am missing something. Readers help me out. Is there something wrong with Friday's post on sin?
I remain your deeply caring pastor.........

Jeff, I reread Friday's post. There is nothing wrong with what you shared. Right now I don't remember where the vs. is, but there is a verse in the Bible that says "there is pleasure in sin, for a season." Every time satan presents the temptation to sin, it makes it attractive and pleasureable. Not sure about henious crimes on this. But the everyday temptations most of experience are the "feels good" brand of sin.

I don't know what your questioner wrote that they were concerned about, but you were teaching a valuable truth to your Bible study group. No matter when or under what circumstances God calls to us to change, it is always because He loves us so much and knows us so much better than we know ourselves, that He always has our best interest at heart.

And, most of the time when the temptation to sin occurs, it comes in the form of "feels good," with a myriad of reasons to justify it. Sometimes we find other people to blame for our wanderings.

One other aspect of creation, that we can't avoid, is God's law of reaping and sowing. I think God is sad when He has to watch us reap the adverse effects of sin. Our heavenly Father is sad, just as earthly parents are, when some sin brings circumstances that change our lives for a long long time.

Your post was fine Jeff, and it was good sound Bible stuff.

Jeff, a few additonal thoughts on Friday's blog. People of all ages, gender, and people of all different faith backgrounds, can hardly deny that God gave the Ten Commandments as our players manual for relating to God, relating to others, relating to ourself, and a means for having order in the world.

When Jesus came, He said "I came not to destroy to law, but to fulfill it. He came to fill the Law with Himself. He came to fill the Law with His supreme love, His self-sacrifice, God's forgiveness, and His all encompassing grace.

If the person who shared the comment you cannot post attends worship regularly, they surely understand that you continually preach that God is the only rightful judge of our lives. I hope this person can go to God and talk to him about their concern over sin.

There wasn't anything wrong with Friday's post. That wasn't the point. And you're right, it was the wrong avenue.

Perspective! I agree 100% with you. But I believe we also have to realize that each of us processes so differently! Please don't stop sharing. Lastly, the way you handle a conflicting opinions by welcoming us to call or contact is respectable! :)
