stories of Woods Chapel

I hear stories about Woods Chapel all the time.  Then I forget them.  I would love to start collecting them in writing so that we can remember our story.

I hear stories about softball teams, barbeque cook offs, the first Grace Place, old Camino stories, selling the old building, dreaming to add a gym to our building, installing the playground, planting the pine trees on the south property line, a child who collected presents for Spofford in lieu of birthday presents.  Someone was touched by a song.  Someone's life was changed on a mission trip.

What are your favorite Woods Chapel stories?

It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.

Jeff, this is one of my favorite Woods Chapel stories. It shows who Jeff is and the spirit of our church.

One Sunday morning, it appeared to me that someone had borrowed Jeff's truck, maybe for a church project. I'm working at the Connecting Desk, with a good view of the South parking lot.

In between one of the four morning services, I see Jay go get Jeff to come help with a problem. Jeff and Jay go out to the parking lot. Jeff, in his Sunday best (suit,) steps up on the bumper of his truck and steps over into the truck bed. He fools with the latch on the trunk bed and got the tailgate to open; climbs back down off the bumper; swipes his hands together a couple of times to get the dirt off his hands; hurriedly goes back to the Sanctuary and heads in to preach sermon number three or four. All in a morning's work. Great pastor, great spirit of the kind of small or large detail at our church, to helping each other and solving small or large problems.

Can still see this picture in my mind.
