When you are a pastor, it feels like Sunday comes three times a week.  Oh, my!!! I have to preach again!! And so soon.  That is how pastors feel.

Someone once said, "Hey Jeff, my mother is with me today, I hope the sermon is good."  So this is the kind of pressure that pastors feel.  Its like people are saying, I'm here today........ inspire me.

The pressure to inspire people is very heavy, and I don't know if pastors can really do that every week.  Sometimes sermons should make you feel good, sometimes they should make you think, and sometimes they should make you uncomfortable.  There is an old saying that was passed on during seminary, "comfort the afflicted, and afflict the comfortable."

Having said all of this, I am sure that today will be an emotional day for me.  It is not the last time that I will be preaching at woods chapel, but it is the first time that I will be preaching and seeing most of you since the announcement was made.

Please go easy on me today.  The sermon is more informational than inspiring.  I will be glad to see each of you, as I always am.

It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.

Jeff, I hope people will not only go easy on you today, but all the other days. It's seems like such a small admonition in the Bible, to "do unto others...."

You are in my prayers. I can sense the emotion you'll be feeling today, because this probably feels like the beginning of the end for your long and admirable ministry in this place. Maybe this time is meant to be, for you and those who've been a part of WCC, since back at the small church on WC, to have time to say their goodbyes. The members of your church family have one person to say goodbye to. But Jeff has hundreds.

God bless and be with you, through this.
