walking with a limp

This book I started reading the other day is loaded with great questions and thought provoking ideas.

Here are a few to ponder:

Where is there death in my life?
Where am I dying because of the decisions I’ve made?

He goes on to ask:

What is God up to here, now?
What in the world is God doing today?
How should we (I) respond?

I believe the writer’s hope is that the reader will evaluate their life and way of thinking. “Get off auto pilot”, “get out of the routine”, “step out of their comfort zone”, “think outside of the box” and look for a challenge.

He goes on to tell of the story of Jacob wrestling with the angel and how, in the end, Jacob is left tired, exhausted and leaves walking with a limp. His point, “Some people have no limp, because they haven’t wrestled. But the ones limping have had an experience with the living God.”

Grace is just the beginning of our walk. We should find comfort in knowing it is always there, but not so much that it keeps us from looking for a good wrestling match and walking with a limp at times.

Jeff will be back tomorrow.

Peace,
Lion’s Den Man

Its so easy to get in a routine and to follow the herd..this reminds me of a story I heard on the radio, A female dog who was pregnant was hit by a lawnmower and lost her back legs. The vet said, "you can put her to sleep or I can mend her but the puppies are fine and she can deliver the puppies. They mended her. The dog learned to sort of walk, front paw at a time and pulling up her back then reaching out again and pulling up her back. One day the puppies were born and watching their mom...they all learned to walk that way too.....Except for one puppy who just danced around and jumped and rolled and played.
He saw what his brothers and sisters did, but chose his own way.
The things we can do when we try are amazing. When we get stuck in a rut in a routine...with no growth no new excitement...it becomes a sad lonely place, and we wonder , is this all there is? Hopefully this is when we take a knee and find the world we'd been missing, The world of faith the world of Christ,.... the walk we did'nt know we could do.
