the gift of friends

On the 4th of July my 23 year old daughter had a bunch of her friends over to the house.  It was a very exciting time, with lots of young energetic people around.  They all brought food and drink and fireworks.  It was the best fireworks show that we have had in a number of years.

And so I notice something about these "kids."  Most of them have been Jenny's friends since they were 12 years old.  Think of that.......... friends that you are connected to, and love, and stay in contact with, since you were 12.

I have one friend from high school, a couple from college, a couple from past appointments, but none that I really stay up with.

What a gift it is to have long term, life long friends.  If you have them, give thanks!  If you don't have them, well, there is no time like the present to start.  Introduce yourself to someone at church and go to lunch with them.  Just think what you may be saying 12 years from now.

It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.
