oppression

Each of us have the choice in this life to be lovers or haters.  Lovers or users.  Too often we select our course of action, insisting that we are right, with no thought of the effect upon others around us.

What did the Aztecs think when they were being starved and slaughtered by Cortez?  What did the American Indians think when they were being hunted and systematically exterminated?  Did they pray to the Great Spirit?

What did slaves think when they were kidnapped from their tribes in Africa and smuggled to America in the belly of a boat?  Their familes were split up and they were sold in chains.  They worked hard and they sang songs like, "swing low, sweet chariot, coming for to carry me home."  They looked for a time when God would save them and release them from the pain of this life.

Are we inflicting pain on the lives of others or are we bearers of hope?  Are people glad to see you and me coming or does it cause them distress?  We have a choice to make each day.  May we always be thinking about how our actions affect others around us.

It's a beautiful day in God's world, make it one for those around you as well.  Help them see the good.
