Jesus is tired

Jesus is tired.  He is tired of being bound up by our ideas about him.  It is like we have him locked up in a prison.  We have purified him according to our preferences.  He preached an unrelenting love.  He offered to us a God of grace.  He ignored the dark parts of the Old Testament.  He taught us not to judge.

In spite of all of this we Christians still sometimes-

  • look down on homeless people
  • justify our wealth
  • make excuses for our selfishness
  • do the minimum of Christian work to get by
  • we judge the gay and anyone else that might not follow our rules.

Jesus is tired of being bound by our narrow ideas about him.  He wants to get out.  He wants to be loosed.  He wants to spring from the pages of our hearts and shout to the world of his love, of God's grace and of God's welcome.

Is your Jesus loose or is he tired of being tied up?

It's a beautiful day in God's world be sure to see the good.
