a chance encounter

We were getting ready to leave the restaurant. We saw them waiting in line for a table. Long line at a busy place. We asked them to join us. Delightful couple. We didn't mean to take over their evening together, but we ended up sitting with them for an hour.

That is how friends are made. Spending time with people. Listening, laughing, telling stories. Proverbs says "if a man would have friends, he must show himself to be friendly." Have you reached out to someone lately? A stranger is just a friend that you have not yet met.

Bonds of caring are invaluable forces that connect us to one another in ways that marvel the human heart and mind.

It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.

This summer we had something very similar happen. We were vacationing and were waiting to be seated at a restaurant. Another lady and I began to visit while our husbands parked the cars, and as we did, it became apparent to both of us that our meeting was more than just chance. We were absolutely drawn to each other. Later after eating our lunches, Jim and I went over to their table and joined them. We must have talked for more than an hour. As we parted, there were hugs and blessings and a realization, both spoken and unspoken, that we would meet again. It was beautiful!

That's so cool. What a neat way to meet someone. On Christmas Eve this year, I met a woman in a long line outside (it was sleeting that day)of Honey Baked Ham. Her and I talked about all kinds of stuff (for about 30 min.)and during that time, several others in line joined us. Here we all were, talking and enjoying what could have been a stressful situation. The line slowed us down enough to allow us the opportunity to enjoy that time---and some free samples too. ; )

Thanks for being so gracious. I can personal say the couple really enjoyed your kindness and the conversation.
