Giving something up for lent

Give up complaining——focus on gratitude.
Give up pessimism——become an optimist.
Give up harsh judgments——think kindly thoughts.
Give up worry——trust Divine Providence.
Give up discouragement——be full of hope.
Give up bitterness——turn to forgiveness.
Give up hatred——return good for evil.
Give up negativism——be positive.
Give up anger——be more patient.
Give up pettiness——become mature.
Give up gloom——enjoy the beauty that is all around you.
Give up jealousy——pray for trust.
Give up gossiping——control your tongue.
Give up sin——turn to virtue.
Give up giving up——hang in there!

It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.

Sometimes you invite us to add one. Give up self - focus on Jesus/others

AWESOME. . . . next year, remind us of this list earlier, perhaps right before Lent. But without knowing I was truly giving something up, I've been working on one of those actions items in earnest this Lent. Thanks for outlining all those ways to give something up and get so much in return!

I am supprised you didn't get a response from these ideas. This is great stuff but maybe for most of us it hits a little close to home.
