abandonment

For some reason I have been thinking lately about the concept of abandonment.  It is probably one of the most painful things that a human can experience.  To be abandoned by a friend.  To be left to die on the battle field.  A spouse leaves.  Parents give up on children.  Ouch, on so many levels.

I think that many humans live with a fear of abandonment.  If you smell any of this in your heart, you have to know that it is a very painful fear to live with.

Thank God for friends that stick with us.  Thank God for God who has said in Hebrews 13:5 "I will never leave you nor forsake you."

It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.

Jeff, you have taught us so well to look for the good in any situation. So I'd like to interject the thought that although the abandoment you speak of is so oppressing, there is a good kind of abandoment.

Abandoment of self to live for Christ, as in Lent should never really end. I think of apostles who abandoned their life styles and occupations, to follow Christ.
