Jodi Arias

You may be following the Jodi Arias trial.  She is the one that lied about, then admitted to killing her boyfriend.

It drives me nuts to think that we are spending millions to put this person on trial.  That there is all of this "evidence" being presented to try and get her off.  How many times did she stab him and then shoot him in the head?

When I was a kid it wasn't like this.  The bad guys admitted their guilt and went to jail.  Also, no one got off because of a tiny spec of reasonable doubt.  Cases like OJ and Casey Anthony make me wonder if this gal is going to get off as well.

I know that there is a lot of gray area in life, but sometimes I think that there should be a little bit more black and white.  Thou shall not kill.  Period.  You can break up with someone or divorce someone without killing them.

Now, how do I take you from these thoughts to "it's a beautiful day?"

Look at the people around you.  The ones that you like, and the ones that you don't like.  They are all good people, dearly loved by God.  Let's be among those who love, not those who hate.

It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.

Could not agree more. Makes you kind of wonder when people here in America begin taking the law into their own hands, kind of like the wild west days.

Oh but wait, will they have any guns, or will the government own them all?

Blowing off steam.

I think that cases like this are hard. Not because of the gruesome details, but because it makes us work. It challenges us to be sure that if we are going to take away someone's rights, we are sure. It makes us think. It reminds us that we must jump through all the hoops so that every time someone is on trial, we don't skip a step. Our justice system is full of flaws but I think it is better than the "good old days". We shouldn't forget that those days were not always so good when the color of your skin or the number of dollars in your pocket swayed the gavel of a judge. Not to say that injustice doesn't happen now, but the pain of trials such as this one may be the price we pay.

God has given us the gift of reason and intellect. We cannot be lazy. In this case, it would be easy to just lock her up and throw away the key. But if the law is not followed, then where do we draw the line? Can we just toss our Miranda rights? Can we get rid of search and seizure laws? Should we just chuck the Constitution?

It's a beautiful day because God has given us the ability to seek justice even for those who don't deserve it.

PS When we were kids Charles Manson claimed he was innocent too!
