comfort the afflicted

When I was in seminary [back in the horse and buggy days] they used to drill into our brains this statement: "to be a pastor is to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable."  Unfortunately much of American Christianity is centered around comforting the comfortable.

I recently ran across a different version of that statement.
"You can't comfort the afflicted without afflicting the comfortable."   Princess Diana

There is so much that we can do in this world to help others, but we must leave our comfort zone to do so.  Go out of your way to help someone else today.  You will be glad that you did.

It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.
