homeless

I run into people all the time that think we should not help the homeless.  What would Jesus do?  Don't make excuses, just answer the question, what would Jesus do?

On the next to the last day of my redwood trip I was walking in San Francisco on Fisherman's wharf.  I saw a homeless guy sitting outside of McDonald's.  As I approached, an 8 year old boy came out with a sandwich and handed it to the man.  I was close and  I saw the look on their faces in the moment of the exchange.  The boy was smiling and filled with joy to help another human.  The homeless man was surprised, but then launched a big smile and said, "thank you."  It was a beautiful moment.

Yes there are people that will take advantage of you.  They will waste your money.  Wait... don't we waste our money too?  I believe it is better to be taken advantage of every now and then, then to turn a blind eye toward another person who is truly in need.

Jesus fed the 5,000.  Were they all worthy?

Jesus healed 10 lepers.  9 took advantage of him.  Only one returned to say thanks, but he helped them all.

A small act on your part just might make someone's day today.
It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.
