cholesterol

Here is some good news. After eating fast food and other random junk for years, I succeed in getting my cholesterol u pt o 240.

For the past six months I have been taking some pill and these giant fish oil capsules. The little pill is fine but the fish oil capsule is a monster. Eat two of those and you feel like you had breakfast.

Anyway, I got a recheck this week and my cholesterol is down to 175!!! Looks like I will be around here to bug you for a long time [the Lord willing.]

It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.

Jeff, what an important subject you've been open to sharing. We want you around, for a very long time, as well as other Woods Chapel family members whom you cherish so much in your life.

I think you've opened up a need to discuss the possiblity of having a class at WCC on additional issues of good health. We do a lot toward spiritual health, but maybe we also need to address physical health.

Cholesterol is only one small part of a lifestyle that promotes good health and longevity. Cholesterol readings along, don't ensure good health. Goals for cholesterol levels are not equal for all people, of all ages, and both genders.

Do we have physicians, lifestyle counseling professionals, or heart and cancer physician specilists, in our congragation? If so, I'm wondering whether they might be willing to do a panel discussion or weekly sessions on:

* Overall cholesterol goals
* Good cholesterol vs. bad ch.
* Optimum girth for men, women,
and children
* Optimum blood pressure
* Optimum blood sugar leveals
* Ratios of desired calories in
and calories out, through
regular exercise
* Why optimum levels of the above
vary, depending on family
history, or incidence of stroke,
or heart problems in one's own
life
* The importance of genetic
counseling, and where it is
available in our area.

The fact is that risk for heart disease, stroke, and diabetes, are very often tied together, and the risk factors dictate optimum levels of the above.

Thanks Jeff.

It's 9:29 Friday night and I noticed there were no comments on your blog today. (Notice I've got nothing better to do than read your blog again. LOL)

Maybe you have received some comments and just haven't posted them yet--I don't know. But I did want you to know that I for one am proud of you for lowering your cholesterol. That's quite an achievement. I'm glad you've improved your chances of being around a while longer.

You done good! ; )
