world view

Today is world communion Sunday.

In Jen Hatmaker's book Interrupted, she says, It's one thing to acknowledge a different world view- it's another thing to absorb it.

I find this to be quite profound. Many people understand that there are opinions and life experiences out there that are different than theirs. But few people really listen and try to understand how other people think.  Few people really try to take in the world view of another person.

Until we learn to do this we are stuck.  We are doomed to continue to repeat the patterns of our own lives, insisting that we are right and everyone else is wrong and we deserve what we have in America.

Until we open ourselves to really understand and empathize with how others live, it is hard for God to reach us and teach us.

It's a beautiful day in God's world be sure to see the good.
