Love Thy Neighbor

I was visiting some old friends last week and I saw this sign in their house.  I was reminded of the importance of loving your neighbor.

This is the only thing that matters.  As the old song says, they will know that we are Christians by our love.  That means if we don't love others, our witness is mute.  Or worse, our witness may be unkind, judgmental or guilt laden.  It is most often not the words that reach others, it is the kindness, the love.

Someone is waiting for you today.  Someone who in the past has been invisible to you.  A bank teller, a server at the restaurant, the taco bell employee.

Love thy neighbor.  On this hangs all the law and the prophets.    If I speak in the tongues of men and angels but have not love.......   Get this wrong and we are a clanging gong.  Get this right and you have life right.
