Jack

My buddy Dan and I used to sit on his back porch and drink Jack Daniels. We would laugh and tell stories. I thought of those times and it reminded me of this Luke Bryan song.

On a side note, my daughter Jennifer loves country music. I used to like to tell the joke, I like both kinds of music: country and western.

Here are the lyrics....

When I got the news today
I didn't know what to say.
So I just hung up the phone.

I took a walk to clear my head,
This is where the walking lead
Can't believe you're really gone
Don't feel like going home

So I'm gonna sit right here
On the edge of this pier
Watch the sunset disappear
And drink a beer

Funny how the good ones go
Too soon, but the good lord knows
The reasons why

Sometimes the greater plan is kinda hard to understand
Right now it don't make sense
I can't make it all make sense

So I'm gonna sit right here
On the edge of this pier
Watch the sunset disappear
And drink a beer

Dan asked me to live with him while at the University of Missouri. I remember having many great conversations with Dan in our room at the Phi Delt house. Many bourbons and beers with Dan, who always had a kind word, pleasing grin or outright smile and words of encouragement. I will miss you Dan.RIP my friend. Matt Woods
