The enormity of the task

There are so many things that are so big, it seems as though the work will never get done. In fact, there is no end to human suffering. It will be here long after you and I are dead and gone.

Sometimes, when you look at the number of hungry people, the amount of work to be done in New Orleans, San Diego, and Greensburg, it seems overwhelming. It is overwhelming. These areas may never come back. The problem is so immense, it is easy to develop a sense of compassion fatigue.

We get tired of helping, we get tired of caring. Sometimes we just want our life back.

Well, there is an old saying: How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

Jesus invited his followers to take a cup of cold water in His name. When we stop doing that, we become turned in and self-absorbed. We grabbed at the life we wanted, but we did not find it. We are only truly filled when we are giving of ourselves to others.

Rest, take a break. Pray. The compassion will return, for it comes from the heart of God. Do not be weary in well doing, for you will reap a harvest in due time, if you do not faint.

Its a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.
