humility

I saw Mike Tyson on TV this morning. Life has a way of humbling us. That is one of the problems with blowing your own horn. Eventually, life has a way of bringing us all to our knees. We certainly grieve with him, the loss of his daughter.

Although the church should not pound people about humility, a lack of humility is a very distasteful characteristic. We don't run around celebrating people for their humility [they would not like it], but a lack there of it is repulsive.

I think of the professional athlete that has forgotten that he is a part of a team. I think of the pastor who has to remind everyone that he/she knows more or is more successful.

Anytime we get stuck on ourselves, it is unbecoming. Our hearts should not be celebrating ourselves, but should rather be grateful to God for the gifts of life.

It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.
