disappointment

We had such high hopes for the Kansas City Chiefs this year.  But if you are from Kansas City, you are used to disappointment.  The Chief's all time playoff record is pretty dismal.  Prior to this year we were 9 wins and 18 losses all time.  Now I guess we are 10 wins and 19 losses all time.  In the last 15 years we are 2-11.  Dismal.

We had hoped that it would be different this year.  Patrick Mahomes.  Tyrik Hill.  Travis Kelce.  We knew our defense was suspect, but we hoped that our heroes would pull it out.  Not so.  I think that the level of disappointment that we have with a situation is proportional to our expectations.  Reduce your expectations, and your level of disappointment goes down.

So let's pull a couple of arrows out of our quiver, shall we?

1.  It's just a game.
2.  It's better to make it to the championship and lose than to be sitting at home, watching it on TV.  A bunch of other teams wish that they had the chance to be in that game.
3.  Mahomes, Kelce and Hill will all be back next year.
4.  There are people out there for us to care about today.

At any rate, there is no joy in Mudville.  But tomorrow is another day.

It's a beautiful day in God's world be sure to see the good.
