preference

We humans prefer certainty over ambiguity.  We want to know.  We want to feel that we are in control.

When things start to get messy, we can get worried real quick.  Enough uncertainty in a life and we feel concerned, fearful, disheveled and sad.  Maybe the stages of grief fire up.  Denial, anger and resignation can fill our lives.

Oh I wish I understood everything about my life.  I miss parts of my past.  The way it used to be seems so safe to me now.

We prefer certainty over ambiguity.  We should try to fix that which we can.  But for some situations, we just need to realize that we may carry this brokenness, this loss, this concern, this confusion, this ambiguity, we may carry it to the grave.

That being said, we need to learn to adapt our thinking.  Maybe this isn't a time of fear, but a time of exploration.  What if this isn't a broken time, but just a different time?  There are so many positive ways to look at life if you think about it.

Certainty is great.  Ambiguous situations filled with change can be good as well.  And we can still find humor, even in ambiguity.

It's a beautiful day in God's world be sure to see the good.
