Good Friday

Who gave this day it's name? In some ways, it is the saddest day of the year. But without the cross, there is no Christianity. We have to remember. We have to tell the story. We have to remind ourselves of the great price that was paid for our salvation. Service tonight is at 7pm.

Today during prayer I was trying to thank Jesus for what he did.
The enourmous gravity of the act overwhelmed me and the words "thank you " seemed so benign. I realised he knew my heart and my thoughts and that I was doing my best and that there were no words really. Then on the way to work today I saw a horrible car accident. Life is so fleeting. One minute your going to work the next second your going to heaven. I can right now thank the folks around me. Thank you Jeff, you my long time friend, are an inspiration and great role model for myself and my sons, and I love you. Thank you people of woods chapel you are simply the best folks on earth and I love you too. I'm sure today and this weekend we will all take time to reflect on what we are remembering, and realise this act, so long ago, gives us hope and salvation now. I am so thankfull for Jesus I can't even say.

It’s Friday night. We just crucified the Son of God. Watched it all. We walked out of the sanctuary nearly dazed at the remembrance of the old story, become fresh on our hearts. For we didn’t merely witness the horror of history, we are reminded that we participated in it. I didn’t physically drive a nail, but it was for me that the nails were driven.

It was a quiet ride home. We left Jesus being taken down off the cross…a lifeless body. I sit this side of the resurrection, with the Comforter alive in my body. What would I be feeling if I didn’t know that “Sunday’s Coming”?

This service was awesome as always-- instead of a sad day, I tried to make it as an anticipation day for a day that's better than Christmas--Sunday is the BIRTHDAY celebration for all Christians!! We had cake and ice cream w/ 1 candle on top. For HIM----AMEN--Lynn
