lacking self confidence?

Do you ever lack self confidence? Most of us do. If you hang around me long enough, you will hear me talk about how scary it is to be a pastor. We all do things that we do not feel fully prepared for. At least I hope you do, because if you are only living in your comfort zone, you may not be doing much for God. I have come to believe that when God calls us, he calls us out of our comfort zone.

And so as we step into his will, we are uncomfortable and lacking self confidence. This is not a bad thing. Would you rather be supremely, arrogantly confident? Of course not. A little self deprecation is a good thing from time to time and less than adequate self esteem reminds us to depend on God.

When we are weak, then he is strong. Is there something that you are supposed to do this week? Are you nervous about it? Good. Let those nervous feelings drive you in the direction of Almighty God who will surely give you the strength to do his bidding.
