An old song

And so I was listening to the radio the other day and this song came on from my youth. Everything is beautiful, in it's own way.

I thought about how, way back then, 55 years ago, somebody got it. Somebody knew what it was all about. My parents did not, and I did not, but someone else, probably lots of other people had discovered the value of kindness and love.

Here are the lyrics to that song...

Jesus loves the little children
All the children of the world
Red and yellow black and white
They are precious in his sight
Jesus loves the little children of the world

Everything is beautiful
In it's own way
Like a starry summer night
On a snow covered winter's day

And everybody's beautiful
In their own way
Under God's heaven
The world's gonna find a way

There is none so blind
As he who will not see
We must not close our minds
We must let our thoughts be free

For every hour that passes by
You know the world gets a little bit older
It's time to realize that beauty lies
In the eyes of the beholder

And everything is beautiful
In it's own way
Like a starry summer night
On a snow covered winter's day, ah sing it children

And everybody's beautiful
In their own way
Under God's heaven
The world's gonna find a way

We shouldn't care about the length of his hair
Of the color of his skin
Don't worry about what shows from without
But the love that lives within

We're gonna get old again now
Everything is gonna work out fine
Just take a little time to look on the good side my friend
And straighten in out in your mind

And everything is beautiful
In it's own way
Like a starry summer night
On a snow covered winter's day, ah sing it children

And everybody's beautiful
In their own way
Under God's heaven
The world's gonna find a way, one more time

Everything is beautiful
In it's own way
Like a starry summer night
On a snow covered winter's day

And as I think about this topic, Jesus, 2000 years ago got it.  Early church leaders got it.  Medieval monks got it.  In the past 15 years I have come into the knowledge of the importance of kindness, and it feels like a new discovery.  Well for me it was, but the appreciation and the embrace of love and kindness has been going on since well before you and me.

We just have  the opportunity to bring it to our world, our people today.

It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.
