it's all about the comments

Well. I guess I learned something Wednesday night. It is all about the comments. If no one comments on a blog post, then there is no reason to read the post I guess. If people comment, then it is readable. Give me a break. Haven't you ever had a day where no one cared what you said? Don't you have days when there is nothing inspirational to say?

Well, there are a lot of days when you just have to keep your face pointed in the right direction. Sometimes, no one cares what you think and you are not going to inspire anyone, but you just have to keep trying. You just keep going. It was in the sermon last week. "Wisdom is proved right by her children." Keep doing the right things. You can't always inspire everyone, but that is no reason to give up.

It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.

It is not all about the comments!!!! I (along with many others, I am sure) start my day everyday with your blog. Once in a while I comment, but when I don't it doesn't mean the the message wasn't inspirational, meaningful, or at least gave me a chuckle. Many of them have stayed in my mind, at least for that day! Little do you know how much influence you have!!!! You help keep many of us pointed in the right direction!

Jeff, Keep blogging on. My wife and I regularly read your blogs and are encouraged and uplifted to see the good in the world God has made for us. Since we've been attending WCC it is not uncommon when one of us starts griping about work or life in general for that person to stop and say, "gotta see the good." Or the other will say, "let's look for the good." In our house, this blog keeps you a real person. Too many pastors we've seen gravitate to a pedestal because the only thoughts you hear from them are from the pulpit. We love to hear about your ugly dog and your kids and the things that make you mad, sad, happy, and excited. Thank you for all you do and keep blogging on!

Jeff,
Sounds like there is something unpleasant behind this post. Sorry to hear that. I read everyday. I read your blog as a way to start my day at work. I dont read looking for great inspiration or direction. I read because it grounds me and connects me to you and God and everyone else reading. It is a positive thing to do. I dont comment often. Mainly because I cant think of anything profound to say. You do a great job. Thank you for taking the time to post a thought every day.

I read every morning. It's the best way to start my day. Whether you make me cry, laugh, think, or all of the above, I have rarely commented. I take it for granted that you will be there every morning to start my day. Thank you and please don't think that no one gets anything out of this if there are no comments. We get a lot. We just don't always know what to say in return.

Your blog is the first thing I read on my lunch hour. I don't comment - too hard to type and eat - but I always enjoy your posts. And it is not all about the comments. In fact I rarely read the comments except when you refer to them in your post.

You shouldn't post to a blog if no one comments. Well that's cart before the horse stuff. You have to post to get the comments. Sometimes you don't get comments. Doesn't mean that the post wasn't worth it. Think about it this way - if you tell someone that you're thinking about them, that you worry about them, that you admire them, that you love them are you really just looking for something back? No, you're reaching out in love. I don't think Jeff posts to get comments, he posts to keep us connected him. Sometimes we see something like ugly dogs or politics or silly comments that cause us to respond. Sometimes we just read to learn, enjoy and remember - no feedback necessary.

I completely agree with these comments! The blog is an important part of my day and I know many other who feel the same. I'm sorry for the person who thinks that no comments means we didn't read, care or understand. I'm not profound either but I appreciate every word.

You are brave to bare your soul the way you do but that openness you show with the blog helps me to remember to give more of myself.

Inspirational or not, I appreciate this daily touchstone. Thank you!

I echo all of the others. I read daily, but do not comment daily.

Sometimes the best comment is no comment...

Sometimes I read daily. Sometimes my life gets out of control (like this week) and I get caught up on a quiet Saturday morning. But I ALWAYS read. I almost never comment. How selfish of me. Thanks for being one of my true selfish pleasures. Your blog helps me keep things in perspective. I am more grateful than you will ever know. Gotta go...the quiet Saturday morning just got loud...

You don't know me but I read your blog at least every week.

Keep blooging - you are one of the few worth reading.
