The Bipolar Church

Seems to me that much of the church has been bipolar.  At least the church in my experience has sung two completely different songs.

Turn the other cheek, Jesus said.  And the church teaches that.  God is angry at sinners and his wrath must be satisfied.  And the church taught that too.

So does God not turn the other cheek?  Does God not forgive without taking revenge on someone or something first?

Our teachings have been bipolar.  It is time to finally decide, does God love us unconditionally or is he mad.  The choice you make on that issue will say much about your self esteem, the general tenor of your life, and how you feel about facing death.

For me, God is love.  He doesn't want to hurt us or get even.  He didn't need to kill something to be satisfied.  God is love.  That is where I hang my hat.

It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.
