this is my country

Someone was dogging America the other day.  Someone younger than I am, that maybe has not read the history or lived through so much of the great stuff.

They were asking me what good has America done.  I told them, a lot.  We talked back and forth.  I think that there are many wonderful things that America has done.  Some very Christian things.  Here is the start of my list.  Can you add to it?

we have created a country where everyone can worship as they please
it took a while, but we ended slavery
we welcomed Irish immigrants during the potato famine in the 1800's
we rebuilt Europe after WW2
we have sent and do send foreign aid all over the world.
the innovations and technology created in this country have revolutionized the world.

Please add to the list.

It's a beautiful day in God's world, be sure to see the good.

Whether we agree with it or not, we have one of the oldest and most successful governments on the planet. Our constitution, including the bill of rights, is a model for democracy and human rights. Monarchies were still very popular when this form of government was created. The impact of our constitution alone revolutionized how people are governed.

American medical research has produced numerous advances, that are painstakingly scrutinized for safety and effectiveness.

America has made advances in agriculture to yield better crops that do not deplete the soil of nutrients.

We've also given the world baseball and basketball, and football as we know it (not soccer).

In the entertainment industry we introduced movies, both silent and talking. Our entertainment industry sets the bar for excellence.
