The "love file" is something that we learned about from Dave Ramsey, the famous financial planner. He also calls in "the legacy drawer."
This is basically a set of files that provides all of the information that my spouse or children will need to know at the time of death.
- There is a cover letter about how much I love them.
- There are instructions for my cremation and memorial service.
- There is information on all financial accounts. Account numbers, where they are located and who the beneficiaries are.
- monthly budget
- tax returns
- social security info
- safety deposit box info.
- There is info on the life insurance.
- There are medical directives and my last will.
Since I have handled the finances in our family the entire time, this is all important information for others to have when the time comes.
It is never easy to lose someone you love, but we can make it easier on them by making sure that they have everything that they need. It is one final way that we can say, "I love you!!!"
